|Captain America 3 Is Going To Be Huge says Robert Downey Jr|
In a surprising switch of events, Robert Downey Jr. informs Yahoo that he believes Captain America 3 is going to be type of a big deal.
“It’s going to be huge,” Downey says, without commenting or exposing any additional details.
Captain America 3 will be the next movie, following Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which Downey fits up as Iron Man. The movie will start Marvel’s attempt to adapt the Civil War storyline that ran in Marvel Comics in 2006-07 to the Marvel Studios line of movies. The storyline breaks the superhero community in two over the Superhero Signing up Act, an act that forces superheroes to expose their secret identities and register with the government as employees. Iron Man staunchly supports the Act, while Captain America sees it as a breach of heroes’ civil liberties.
Probably more exciting is how Downey replies to comments made by his Iron Man co-star, Jeff Bridges, about what it was like performing the first entry in Mavel’s cinematic universe. Bridges compared it to making a massive student movie, but Iron Man was the only MCU film in which Bridges appeared. Having stuck around for the long game seems to have colored Downey’s memory a small differently.
“At the time we were just trying to launch something that didn’t have that great a shot of being a hit,” Downey says, “and now, looking back, and the way things have happened with Marvel, it was just the beginning of this big business plan.”
Captain America 3 is set for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
